Description
Suika Shapes is an extension of the wildly popular スイカゲーム (Suika Game), aiming to provide far more gameplay options and many more hours of gameplay. The game is simple, match two shapes of the same color and continue to make the biggest shape possible before running out of space. While circles alone make for an addicting experience, Suika Shapes provides 25+ shapes with unique properties that impact gameplay in interesting ways. The game also provides modes for specific groups of shapes, such as Tetrominoes. Suika Shapes gives players the freedom to combine any amount of shapes to make their own custom gamemodes.
History
Suika Shapes started off as a simple clone I made in less than two hours and put up on my itch.io page (https://zanthous.itch.io/). I found it enjoyable to get some time away from working on Sklime, so I continued to add small features here and there, new shapes, online leaderboards, and experimental modes. Eventually I decided to commit full time to working on the game to release it on Steam along with many much needed improvements such as saving and viewing many local scores, friend leaderboards, and custom mode combinations. The itch version continues to be played daily and has exceeded 50,000 plays, while the Steam version has had several thousand unique players.
